Future Tense is a non-fiction book covering the past, present, and future of Artificial Intelligence. It is extremely relevant right now as AI becomes more and more common in our daily lives, and I really enjoyed how the author used understandable language to describe how this technology originated and has advanced. Hearts That Cut offers a much needed and equally captivating sequel to Kika Hatzopoulou's Threads That Bind. My personal highlight of the book was how the author portrayed Io and Bianca's dynamic throughout their journey together. Despite their differences, you can tell beneath it all that they honestly work really well together and we're here for it. For both those who are continuing with the series, and those who are looking for a new one to start, the world building, mystery and romance are all still alive and well in this sequel. -SamuelHearts That Cut offers a much needed and equally captivating sequel to Kika Hatzopoulou's Threads That Bind. High school-based enemies-to-lovers story! It takes a really creative author to write a book about comedians, considering they have to write their characters comedic scripts! As a senior in high school myself, I found the main character, Agnes Chan, extremely relatable, considering she and I share no extracurriculars. It's cool that it's in the modern day so it makes modern references (i.e., COVID) throughout the book. I really liked the flow and concise writing style. Readers who enjoy a character-driven slow-burn romance will enjoy this book as well as those who like to laugh while they're reading. -FallynHigh school-based enemies-to-lovers story! Iceberg by Jennifer A. Nielsen (who wrote Words on Fire) is about Hazel who finds her way onto the Titanic. What I liked about this book is that Jennifer A. Nielsen uses the raising the stakes writing strategy to build up suspense. For example, in chapter 33 when Hazel and her friend are trapped in the cargo room, and in chapter 38, when Hazel tries to help someone stuck in a water-filled room. If you like suspenseful historical fiction, then you will like this book. -Jason Iceberg is about a teenage girl who sneaks onto the Titanic. She is fascinated with the interior of the ship and starts to wander around and explore when she realizes that sneaking onboard the Titanic may not have been a good idea after all. Many people take biology for granted, seeing it as just another list of things to memorize. But how did all the information in your biology textbook get there? In this book, Hakim traces the origins of life science, all the way from the Middle Ages and the Islamic Golden Age, showing how scientists stood on their predecessors' shoulders to develop biology. However, it stops short of modern times; it's the first of a four-book series. This book would be great for anyone looking to learn the basics and history of the science of life. -OwenMany people take biology for granted, seeing it as just another list of things to memorize. I personally liked the vivid description of the world and the portrayal of paper as it helped and opposed Kurara on her journey. People who enjoy fantasy books as well as Asian culture would enjoy this book. -Kevin Kurara can bring life from paper. Although she has performed as a servant on the "Midori" all her life, when it is found out her ability is valued across the empire, she decides to become a crafter. Himura, Kurara's new mentor, teaches her to hunt down "shikigami" (paper spirits), but as Kurara concludes that the princess and emperor she serves might be using the shikigami with no remorse for their say, she begins to question everything.
