Namaste It took me a while to read。 But it was still a good read。 It had put me in a new mindset of things。 Audiobook- I listened to the audio book and enjoyed it so much that I got the digital version as well。 Another reminder to me how much the different religions of the world have in common。 We often use different words or practices to describe or reach the same goals。 Love it! DNF (to go back to)。 Stopped at chapter about breath work。 I really recommend this book for those looking to expand your mind, body and soul。 To dig deep within, to find your true, authentic self。 If you are looking for service to others and purpose, this is the place to start Wise insights from hindu scripture explained very simply with hands on mechanisms to help you to detach and see yourself and your surroundings clearly。 It feels a bit salespitchy at times for a book about thinking like a monk but it makes it also very practical If you are looking to slow your mind, bring peace and happiness back to your life。 I can’t recommend enough。 It really focuses on slowing down, finding you and getting back to basics。 "Meditation doesn't eliminate distractions, it manages them。" "Meditation doesn't eliminate distractions, it manages them。" 。。。more The ideas from the book are well known to everybody that had an interest in this topic of meditation。Unfortunately for me the way it’s written doesn’t encourage me to read more about the topic and in some parts of the book I didn’t read the whole chapter。If you don’t have any idea about medication and you want to start maybe is a good idea, but I don’t recommend it。I didn’t read anything about the author because I didn’t wanted this to change my idea about the book。 The main inspiration of this book is : The teacher is a student himself。 Took a while for me to finish just given my slow reading nature - but WOW。 What a book。 So many beautiful and intriguing wisdom nuggets。 A book I will most likely read again in the future :) Highly recommend! So happy I listened to this as an audiobook as Jay read it SO well。 Normally I prefer having self-help books as paperback so I can highlight text, but I definitely felt I got more from this book through his voice and animation otherwise I might have skimmed a lot of passages as the “I’ve read this before。” But while a lot of the lessons were things I had heard before (especially the science and evidence of the benefits of mindfulness etc), hearing everything through him and his own voice just he So happy I listened to this as an audiobook as Jay read it SO well。 Normally I prefer having self-help books as paperback so I can highlight text, but I definitely felt I got more from this book through his voice and animation otherwise I might have skimmed a lot of passages as the “I’ve read this before。” But while a lot of the lessons were things I had heard before (especially the science and evidence of the benefits of mindfulness etc), hearing everything through him and his own voice just helped bring a different light to it。My favourite part of this book was by far the purpose and desire side of things。 I really loved the exploration of the intention of things and “what I need to be” vs “what I need to do” the most。 Almost wish the whole book had completely focused on this as it felt a lot more unique and not something I’ve heard/read before! 。。。more

This book is a wonderful journey of self discovery by the author where he learns the teaching and wisdom of monks。 His discovery and growth comes from spending three years as a monk in India。 The book is worth reading as there are nuggets of truth, wisdom, advice, action plans, etc。 Jay's writing is easy to understand, personal, he does not make one feel guilty about their own journey, he shares his own strengths and weakness。 A human touch that we all need as we try to improve our lives。 This book is a wonderful journey of self discovery by the author where he learns the teaching and wisdom of monks。 His discovery and growth comes from spending three years as a monk in India。 The book is worth reading as there are nuggets of truth, wisdom, advice, action plans, etc。 Jay's writing is easy to understand, personal, he does not make one feel guilty about their own journey, he shares his own strengths and weakness。 A human touch that we all need as we try to improve our lives。 。。。more

It took me a while to read。 But it was still a good read。 It had put me in a new mindset of things。

Audiobook- I listened to the audio book and enjoyed it so much that I got the digital version as well。 Another reminder to me how much the different religions of the world have in common。 We often use different words or practices to describe or reach the same goals。 Love it!

DNF (to go back to)。 Stopped at chapter about breath work。

I really recommend this book for those looking to expand your mind, body and soul。 To dig deep within, to find your true, authentic self。

Wise insights from hindu scripture explained very simply with hands on mechanisms to help you to detach and see yourself and your surroundings clearly。 It feels a bit salespitchy at times for a book about thinking like a monk but it makes it also very practical

If you are looking to slow your mind, bring peace and happiness back to your life。 I can’t recommend enough。 It really focuses on slowing down, finding you and getting back to basics。

The ideas from the book are well known to everybody that had an interest in this topic of meditation。Unfortunately for me the way it’s written doesn’t encourage me to read more about the topic and in some parts of the book I didn’t read the whole chapter。If you don’t have any idea about medication and you want to start maybe is a good idea, but I don’t recommend it。I didn’t read anything about the author because I didn’t wanted this to change my idea about the book。

The main inspiration of this book is : The teacher is a student himself。

Took a while for me to finish just given my slow reading nature - but WOW。 What a book。 So many beautiful and intriguing wisdom nuggets。 A book I will most likely read again in the future :) Highly recommend!

。。。more
