One hundered sixty-six (166) is the number of the recent event in the series of "Energiegespräche am Reichtstag" led by the Clean Energy Forum. I had the pleasure of speaking on financing hydrogen infrastructure in Germany and Europe. TSOs and the German Government are jointly leading the way towards a dedicated hydrogen pipeline network in Germany of about 9.700 km envisaged to become operational by 2032. The financing concept for the required investment of c. EUR 20bn is based on private sector financing, backed by guarantees of the German Government. Although open issues remain, it is unique and demonstrates the ambition to enable the infrastructure required for "Roaring 2030s for Hydrogen". Thank you very much to Dr. Friedbert Pflüger (CEF), Kirsten Westphal (BDEW Bundesverband der Energie- und Wasserwirtschaft e.V. Jörg Bergman (OGE), and Philipp Steinberg (BMWK) for their inspiring contributions and a good discussion.
